Saving Up

Srujana is now officially trying to save up to buy a Just Like You, number 12 on the online page, or Kit. She has $133, but she is trying to save that up for something else, so for a doll, she has $13. She's working hard, she helped train her sisters book club for a competition and helped her practice violin. She does not know what else to do. She is not really allowed to get a job, since she's too young or something along the lines of that. Any ideas?
Anyways, today was Ruthie's birthday! We hung up birthday streamers and sat her in the folding chair and sang "Happy Birthday to You!"
I gave Ruthie a scrap of red wrapping paper with glittery pink flowers all rolled up around a bracelet. Ruthie is basically my second best friend here, after Gwen. I will put up pictures some time in February, because the camera is working on and off.

The Vacation

Soooo.....I was setting the table yesterday (I'm on scholarship, so you get assigned a chore.) and I was doing it really nicely because yesterday was the Kansas Admission Day, and every day that a state was admitted into the union, we have a fancy dinner with bulgur and mixed vegetables and fried green peppers and shellfish and nonfat milk and salmon and strawberries and everything! Usually we have barley and mixed vegetables, red peppers, fish, nonfat plain yogurt, bacon, and papaya or something for dessert.
Anyhow, I heard Srujana talking about who she was going to take on a trip to Salem. I hoped she was going to take me! But I highly doubt it. I'm not going on vacation. From what I heard, she is taking Ruthie, Felicity, and Sonali. Two mini's and a big one is safe I suppose. Two large dolls would never do. I'm just surprised she is not taking Sonali.
Okay, I have to go now. I'm helping make things for the art teacher, and I wanted to sort the chenille sticks for her too.
Bye!

Pictures!

Sonali and I on the steps of our school.

Sonali outside right before curfew.

It was the day of the Daisy Day Dance.
Rebecca sat on her bed wondering what she would wear.
Neela had a brand new white sweater and pink disco skirt she was wearing with a purple sash.
"I'll brush your hair for you, Rebecca!"
Sonali brushed Rebecca's hair and the two of them looked for a dress. They found the perfect plaid one.
"Perfect!" Neela exclaimed, as she put a daisy in Rebecca's hair as a finishing touch.
Yes, pictures are here! These are mostly pictures of us.

All About Sonali

Tomorrow, Rebecca and I will post a photo story and pictures of ourselves. She was upset when our camera broke, so we will use the other camera. The school picture will come as a Valentines Day Treat.

I love pizza too, and my favorite grade was the fourth.
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.
My favorite homework assignment was a list of 100 things we were thankful for. I was given an A+!
I love trees and drawing and drawing trees.

Couture Review

Sorry, the school picture will have to come sometime next week, because Srujana's camera has some issue.
Srujana has decided to get the Cold Weather Outfit for me, if she can. She thinks it is awfully cute. It is periwinkle and pink. Two of my favorite colors! I love this outfit! The sweater is super cute, and the hoodie is really cozy, and will keep me warm. I have only one blue, thin jacket, so it will be nice to have something more cozy. The shoes are a toasty pink, and better than my flats, dressy shoes, and skates I have. The pants are a pretty pink, and the mittens will keep my hands nice and warm.
In other news, tomorrow, I will talk all about myself!
I can't wait to try this outfit on!

Always,
Sonali
PS: Happy Birthday Sitara!

Sonali the Ice Skater!

Picture 1- Sonali on Ice!
Picture 2- Sonali starts doing moves!

As you can see, Sonali is learning ice skating. She really likes it, since the pool freezez in our school, she heads to the rink in the winter, and she started learning how to do backwards swizzles! I want to learn now too! It looks so fun.

We took the school photo today! It's pretty average, actually, but I wore one of the dresses Srujana made with a ruler, so it looked nice enough. Srujana will post photos tomorrow. Today she is having a doll dilemma about Kirsten and Addy. Kirsten would be a JLY, but Addy would bring more diversity. Oh-well, she has a long time. For all we know, Samantha as a JLY could be coming next! I have been reading the Lanie books. They're actually pretty good. I especially like the first one.

Valentines Day Prep

A Special Report

Valentines Day is in two weeks! And the party is coming up too. I am so excited. I have a new red skirt with a white blouse that is perfect for the occasion. I'm so happy! Rebecca even asked me to come help with decorations. We went and bought hearts and streamers. I basically am doing a countdown in my head. Kaya is not invited. I feel sort of bad for her, but maybe I can convince Rebecca. I don't want to ruin what I already have with her though! What to do.......

Srujana decided her 2010 doll will be Elizabeth, but she will get her in the summer or fall. She thinks ahead way too much! But still, how can I be annoyed with my best friend coming here? And Srujana is having another song called "Gopala Gopala", stuck in her head. Ugh!

Narrated by Felicity (Felt like being professional today.)

Surprise and Kaya!

Kaya was brought today, and she is really nice. She came with a pencil, a spiral, a sharpener, the clothes she was wearing, jewelry, and a bag. She is very down-to-earth. She has an adventurous spirit and really liked her new room too. She likes Sonali and me, and Rebecca sort of........but that is not the surprise!
The surprise is not on the blog yet, but it will be soon enough, like next week. Srujana just could not wait to announce it! It is a video of an Indian movie song with me, Sonali, and Rebecca. We filmed it over the summer, and it is not a stop motion, but in my opinion, it is magnifique. The song is called O Re Chhori, and Srujana cannot wait until the weekend, when she can put it up!
Bye!

Kaya and Elizabeth

So, we are busy preparing the room of Kaya and Elizabeth, if she will come next, like next year or something. Srujana thinks ahead way too much! Elizabeth and Felicity cannot share because then it's two mini's and a big, and that just does not work here. So here is the plan on the furnishing of Elizabeth's and Kaya's Native American/Colonial bedroom. The dorm lady put us in charge of the room.
  • A Native American Shield will be on Kaya's side of the room, along with a bed with Native American bed coverings.
  • A Colonial table will have a colonial tea set to come with it.
  • A canopy bed will be on Elizabeth's side of the room, as well as a clothes press.
  • Elizabeth will have blue bedding.
And that should be it! Stay tuned...sometime this week, there will be a surprise! And we sent the Valentines Day Scrolls out yesterday, too, by the way.

Valentines Day Party

Pretty Felicity!
This is the area which is to be Kaya's room. It's very nice, as you can see.
An overview of the area
Sonali stares outside sadly, wishing it would stop raining.

Ugh! Still raining.
Pretty Felicity Again.

It's raining again. And Srujana's friend is coming over. And there is Valentines Day Party coming up! The invitation came on a homemade mini scroll from Rebecca. And she actually invited Neela and I!

What: A Valentines Day Party and Formal Tea.
When: Sunday, February 14th, at 4:00.
Where: The cafeteria.
RSPV: Rebecca Rubin
Dress: Formal. Bring valentines.

W
e are so excited for the party! I will wear my new skirt and blouse I guess, and Neela will wear her latest pink one.

Post 43

It is post 43 day! Wow. Martin Luther King Day is coming up, we are getting new dresses, Gwen is here, and to top it off, pictures on the blog tomorrow! Srujana is singing some song, "Pathani Pathani", over and over, it is stuck in my head. Sonali's ready for spring, and at home, we are enjoying our three day weekend. Srujana is not buying any stuff, which is sad. She insists on making everything for us, which is bad because my only decent clothes now are a sweater, my peasant blouse, and jeans and sandals. Srujana just can't sew! We are also setting up Kaya's room. That's right, Kaya Aton My will be the next addition to the Academy!
Kaya
Bye! Pictures tomorrow!

Rain

It has been raining or cloudy all week long, and now! Srujana said that whenever she complained to her friend, she said "Welcome to Oregon!" She only complains when it's raining. And no snow whatsoever except that light layer two days before New Year's Eve. Ugh!
And I am getting a new dress! It will be a school outfit. An orange dress with red embroidery.
And the new girl arrived today! Gwen Megan Thompson came from American Girl, and the first thing she did was hug Sonali, before Sonali introduced all of us. She will be staying in a room with Sonali and me. It's fairly crowded, but not so bad. Gwen's pretty nice. Now, Srujana's friend has three American Girls, and one too many according to her mom, so she offered to give one to Srujana. Kaya, Elizabeth, or Josefina. Hmmmm. Srujana wanted her friend to sell the doll, but her mom did not want her to. Srujana has lots of time to decide anyways.
See you!

Couture

Hi! This is Ruthie with a couture talk. Srujana does not have much money for couture, but she may buy something in the future, like the summer. Here is a list of Srujana's top 10 favorites. She may even make a replica for one of the minis!
1) Coppery Delights Dress from Melody Valerie
2) Town Fair Gown from Dollies Dressmaker
3) Frock From Reproduction from Dollies Dressmaker
4) Cute Green 1914 Dress from Damsels in Dress
5) Cute Pink 1930's Dress from Damsels in Dress
6) Cute 1970's Dress from Damsels in Dress
7) Ice Skating Dress from Terristouch
8) Colonial Era Dress from Terristouch
9) School Dress for Rebecca from Terristouch
And finally........the one, the only, and my personal favorite, the....
10) The Era Dress for Ruthie from Terristouch
Well, that's all the couture talk for today! It's not everything, and Srujana probably won't get more than two or three couture items in her lifetime, but this is a dream list. It's good to dream, right?

All About Me, Sonali

Hi! This post is all about me, Sonali. My full name is Sonali Mythri Matthews. That means Golden Friendship Son of Matthew. My best friends are Gwen Thompson, who will be coming any day now, and Chrissa Maxwell. I love swimming too, but there is not a swim team at this school. There is only basketball and gymnastics exhibition, which is showing off a routine without competing. Here, my best friends are Julie, Rebecca, Ruthie, and especially Felicity. In terms of friends, here is a vague list.
Neela-Ruthie, Julie, and Felicity.
Julie-Neela,Rebecca, and me.
Rebecca-Julie,Ruthie, and me.
Ruthie-Neela, Julie, Rebecca, me, and Felicity.
Me-Julie, Rebecca,Ruthie, and Felicity.
Felicity-Neela, Ruthie, and me.
As you can see, Ruthie is the most popular girl here at AG Music. And actually, I am turning out to be sort of popular too. It's kind of cool that you can be popular for not being mean. In a weird way.
Well that's all for today!

Pictures, Picture Story, Lanie, and Gwen

Sonali's Time Travel Adventure started on a Friday morning....
The wind started to blow and Sonali started to shake as soon as she said "I wish I could see the Great Depression Era."
Sonali fell onto a soft bed.

When she opened her eyes, she saw a girl with hair not brushed, and a 1930's dress.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"I am a time traveler." Sonali said.
Sonali left, and the girl rushed to her typewriter to type up what happened. It would make an amazing fantasy story for her writing class.
And Sonali went home and told her friends the story.
And Srujana styled Sonali's hair pretty too!

And here is just a pretty picture of Neela. In other news, this is our review on Lanie. By Srujana.

1) Doll-Pretty, but her dress is sort of awkward.
2) Butterfly Outfit- Soooo pretty!
3) Garden Outfit-OK.
4) Nightgown-Not so great. I don't really like the slippers.
5) Lanie's Accessories- Neat! I love the laptop.
6) Camper and Gear- $$$! But cool.
7) Raccoon and Can Set- American Girl ran out of ideas.
8) Wildlife Set- The theme was done before for Kaya. It's not very unique.
9) Lanie's Hammock Set- Pretty good. But you could make it easily for a much cheaper price. Srujana's sister made a hammock for her stuffed animals out of a white laundry net for nothing.

And Sonali loves time traveling. She can even travel internationally. She went to 1830, London just the other day! And she went to some OK skatepark. And a bunch of other places too.

Well bye! Hope you liked the pictures!

News

Today's news....
38th post! Wow, how time flies.
Winter has definitely settled in. It was raining like crazy today. And Oregon gets a lot of rain, so when I say crazy, it's way crazy.
I am getting a new outfit! That's almost a bad thing, but Srujana is actually using a ruler this time, so it might turn out better. She is making a plaid dress for me. Scary.......
Pictures tomorrow or Sunday! Yay!

Getting Stuff

We will be getting stuff soon! Not counting Gwen, a horse bridle and a tetherball for our playground! Both homemade, but Srujana will probably get an accessory or piece of clothing from American Girl. Maybe the flute for Sonali, who is using this old wooden stick one.
Srujana is busy making a picture story. And Sonali has been traveling to other times lately. She has the gift! She traveled to 2000, and then 1599, and then 1750! She is quite the time traveler!
Among other news, people have started to act at Srujana's school to teach all religions the same way. Srujana's ramped up and ecstatic. She's happy about it, because she absolutely hates her social studies teacher. Srujana was in such a good mood today, in fact, that she re-styled Sonali's hair and put in a white raffia ribbon. It looks so pretty!

Singing Show

Neela, me, Rebecca, Ruthie, Sonali, and Felicity all sang great. And Neela even was given a new outfit! Srujana will put up a picture on Saturday or Sunday.

Neela will begin to attend the helping-out club with Ruthie at the academy for her elective now. She does not like drama class at all. And Ruthie was all alone in the class.

In other news, Gwen will most likely be coming as the 2010 doll here.

Sorry for the short post! I have a ton of math, and Srujana is too grumpy to let me use the computer because she was given a D- on her math test.

Bye!

PS: Get it? Bye Julie?

Singing Show

The singing show is tommorow! The baoul taught me how to sing. A baoul is a wandering person. But the leader of our village said he was causing trouble, so they made him leave. And right after he said he would help me get my father out of prison, bad people started following his shadow. So he is brave, and I never saw him again.
I wish there was another international doll here though, so I would not be the only one with an accent.

Blog later!

The Sisters in Heart Challenge!

So on Wednesday, it started snowing! Before it melted, I quickly went outside to take nature photos of Sonali. These are some of my first doll photos, so they probably are not very good, but I hope they are OK!
I hope you liked all the photos! I'm especially proud of the ice skating ones. And thank you, Sitara, for your awesome technique.
Srujana
PS from Julie: Monday is the singing show! I'm so excited! I have to practice "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!"
